Test Drive Meme #3
GOLDEN GREENERY

Bloom by The Paper Kites
1:24 / 3:33
▶︎
The Paper Kites are an Australian indie rock/folk rock band from Melbourne. The band was formed in 2009 by lead vocalist/guitarist Sam Bentley and keyboardist/guitarist Christina Lacy. Their 2010 single "Bloom" has been certified Platinum in the United States.
Recently, Town was decorated by locals and Fae folk both. Things are a bit more colorful and the sun is shining more and more instead of the continuous winter gloom from before. The world finally feels like it's coming alive again.
Sorry about your possible allergies as trees blossom and spit excess pollen.
There also seems to be an emphasis on both green and gold. Crowns or other accessories of clovers are being made for luck. Whether or not they're actually lucky, who knows! Dragon-bonded are also being enlisted in helping with post-winter (and post Mind Flayer) repairs. Those creatures did quite a number skittering around some homes so why not lend a hand - clawed or otherwise - now that you're here? It'll help with offworlders reputation if nothing else!
Meanwhile, the Fae appear to have taken to the opposite of helping as they are wont to do. They are instead trying to trick locals and offworlders both with glittering chests of gold that most would know are too good to be true.
These are mimics who will attempt to devour someone that falls for the temptation of quick riches. Not to worry though, they're relatively harmless and all just for a good bit of fun. You might need some help though getting unstuck since they can be pretty persistent once their trap has been sprung.

CH-CH-CHANGES

There comes a time in every young dragon's life where they begin to experience some changes. That might be nothing new to those established in Town by now, of course, as the majority of their changes have come and gone. Nothing can surprise them anymore about their dragon-bonds.
...Or so they thought!
Whether established characters or ones just pulled through the summoning circle, springtime is a season that throws almost all dragons for a little bit of a loop. It is a common rutting season and those hormone fluctuations can strike when least expected.
Even if outside of your specific dragon's season or newly arrived, they'll be swept up by the rest being in so close proximity and likely be at least mildly affected as well. Some handle this season better than others, but there are still specific things to watch out for as more 'universal' experiences.

- ⁂ Heightened aggression - The ways that this can manifest varies wildly! Perhaps you're more easily irritated or frustrated. It's also possible that this presents as an increased competitive drive with someone else or just in general.
⁂ Brooding - While usually described as an instinctual behavior of sitting on eggs to incubate them, for most dragon-bonded this will instead appear as a compulsion to cuddle up with someone dear. You have the instinct to keep them safe, warm, and where better than right here with you?
⁂ Nesting - That stick is really neat. It'd look great in your home, wouldn't it? Dragon-bonded will feel the desire to create a safe and comfortable environment for themselves and friends. This often involves cleaning, organizing, and preparing a space. For what? Maybe your character doesn't know, but will feel the urge to do it anyway!
⁂ Increased Libido (The NSFW Option) - For those of age, there will be a distinct increase in sexual desire that can be noted as well. While not everyone will experience it, it is something that can be present as an undercurrent either on its own or coupled with other instincts. (For example, the compulsion to cuddle isn't just that or nesting will be a result of attempting to breed.)
PLAYTIME

To help dragon-bonded with their seasonal and instinctual urges, Charlie and others have put together some games. They understand this might be a bit overwhelming and strange to those unfamiliar. So, why not make it as fun and enjoyable as they can?
- ⁂ Horn Locking - All dragon-bonded will find that due to the season 1) if they have horns then they aren't going away no matter their attempts to shift and 2) they're extremely itchy. Even the newest among them will have small stubs of horns pre-maturely! To help combat this and channel some unexpected aggression, dragon-bonded are encouraged to lock horns with one another. It hopefully scratches both the literal and metaphorical itches they're dealing with.
⁂ Scavenger Hunt(s) - To help with the nesting urges, a list of miscellaneous items has been given to dragon-bonded to search for. The reward for completing this list* is five (5) bond points. Charlie trusts that you'll find what has been asked for... but doesn't need to see it. Yes, that is a nice rock. It can stay in your home though, really.
⁂ Baseball - Even if called something else here, people will realize quickly enough: this is just baseball. Dragon-bonded will be encouraged though to hit the ball with one of their draconic extremities rather than a bat. They can use their tail, their hands, or even their horns to whack a small ball as far as possible. This game is set-up to help release some of that pent-up energy as well as indulge in that competitive instinct.
Rocky Talky

One of the things that was given to you in your welcome pack from Charlie was a summoning-stone. Although it looks like, well, an ordinary stone- It's actually magic! You can look through it and see someone else's face too if you're both viewing your stones at the same time. It can also record your speech and deliver that to someone else in a snap.
One of the other features is that you can scrawl on it. It will turn your writing into legible text that you can send others to read on their stones. Of course, you need to attune yourself to your stone first. To that end, it prompts you to set up a Rockstar Profile:

⁂ The list provided by Charlie will have approximately ten (10) miscellaneous items on it to find and collect. You can decide what they are and we're operating on the honor system here of your characters going out and finding everything if you so wish. (Just let us know when you turn in your bonds that's what your character did and provide a link if possible, but know that one isn't necessary!)
⁂ You can customize the the Rockstar Profile however you wish! So long as its readable, have fun. The profile image appears best when a 250 by 250 square image. Aurelia Sharr | Pathfinder | New Player
Golden Greenery
Wildcard
[ooc: Short one point starter, but feel free to toss other starters at me! I’m open to Changes of any variety, and Scavenger Hunt specifically, but am happy to plot out anything! You can find me on plurk at Morgana9971.
Golden Greenery
"I daresay we were well overdue for some pyrotechnics," he says, offering a wide, lazy shrug. His dress is modest - black robes and a scowling red mask hanging about his neck. Atop his head is an impressive set of horns which may go some way towards explaining his slouched posture.
"You might wish to be just a touch more gentle with them, however. Some of the residents are rather fond of the fae and will likely not take well to their slaughter - irritating as they are."
no subject
“More fool they, but I have no interest in making enemies. So long as they’ve learned the lesson.” Her response is delivered in a flat tone, empty of both interest and anger as she gazes up at the much taller man, her eyes glittering with curiosity. She can feel the echo of power from here, a sorcerer or perhaps a proper devil? She’s drawn to it.
“Introductions are in order. I am Aurelia Sharr, I have been… summoned here, and yet to find the one whose rudeness dragged me here. I don’t suppose you’d be familiar with them?”
no subject
As for what he is - perhaps a bit of both, depending upon whom one asks. The echo of powerful magic will, however, be unmistakable to anyone who can sense it - a deep well of darkness spanning millennia. Certainly enough to have conceivably powered the summoning circles - though, alas, Emet-Selch can take no credit for it. Nor does he seem at all put off by her delivery. If anything, it only encourages him to greater affect.
"Whether they've learned it or no, mark my words: as soon as the moon has completed its present next cycle, they'll be up to yet another round of their tricks."
Not for lack of trying. True, there are a few individuals among them who seem capable of cowing the faefolk, yet their antics never cease for long, not even against those thy fear.
"As far as introductions go, you may call me Emet-Selch. Yet another of the offworlders you will no doubt become accustomed to ere long." A half-hearted incline of the head is offered, his gaze trailing towards the forest path from whence he himself first arrived. "The one responsible for the summoning circles, regrettably, remains at large and a mystery - at least to us."
no subject
Her gaze drifts towards the fleeing fae once more, before putting them out of her mind. She'll have at least a month of reprieve, at least.
"Before ere long, you say? Yet I am of a mind to depart as soon as I've managed to pinpoint just exactly where I am, and the direction I will need to plot my teleport to get home. Do you imply that such a thing will not be possible?"
Golden Greenery
If Aurelia is paying attention to things that aren't just destroying mimics, she might hear those tiny high pitched voices. Or perhaps she notes the young man approaching her, a gaggle of faeries clustered around his shoulders and pointing. If she's gotten the "so this is what's happening" explanation, then the dual set of pale green horns pressing up past his hair will likely give him away as a dragon-bound person.
Alternatively, she may just care a bit more when he speaks up himself, not sounding too bothered even with the look she's giving, well, everyone. "I don't suppose you could be convinced out of pausing your warpath for a moment?"
He really doesn't want to get into a fight. He knows he's testy because of these ridiculous hormones... and also he doesn't want Charlie to think worse of him when he's been working on restoring his reputation.
Re: Golden Greenery
Convinced to pause is not a hard thing to accomplish, Aurelia halting the moment she’s hailed. The venomous look she shoots at the fae he’s sheltering however does not indicate any concern for him or his presence either. Horns or no horns.
Yet she’s not looking for a fight either, so her response is moderated and as polite as a woman resisting the urge to kill can be. “I could be convinced, provided those creatures you are sheltering can be. If they have learned at least one lesson, I will not pursue them to their home with… intent.”
Seriously though, Mimics?
no subject
Even if sometimes the pixies make it very tempting with the way they're making faces at the young woman before him.
"Is there a particular lesson you were hoping to impart, madam?"
no subject
A sigh escapes her as the mental scales balance themselves against mass destruction, and the light in her eyes starts to fade, quite literally. She might be able to pull it off, but it would be exhausting and tedious.
"The lesson I had hoped to impart was simply that trying my patience will result in pain and suffering for them. Perhaps the creatures can learn it." Her voice has dipped into a dull monotone, the emotion fading out of it like a light switch.
no subject
"That sounds like too much work," one says.
"Who even knows what your patience is," another whines, flopping back somewhat and with full dramatics.
Another snaps their fingers. "We'll have to think of a different game, then." This seems to get the whole lot to agree, a buzz of different voices before they all scatter about like a bunch of dust being carried by the wind. Ignis says nothing, merely raises an eyebrow at them all, until every single one is out of sight.
"Well," he says mildly. "They are fickle little things. Still, hopefully it will take them some time to think of a 'game'... or they may forget it entirely." Their little skulls are so small... Although they also have quite the memory when it suits them. Only time will tell. "I do hope that you weren't bothered too greatly, madam. I am Ignis Scientia. May I know your name as well?"
no subject
Aurelia nods her head and introduces herself with a properly formal tone. “My name is Aurelia Sharr, Labyrinth of the college of mysteries, supreme mage of the fifth crusade. I arrived here with the dawn, and despite ‘Charlies’ explanation of the situation, I am still feeling my way around. I was exploring the outskirts of ‘Town’ when these creatures arrived.”
no subject
"If you have recently arrived, I hardly mind keeping you company, or explaining more about Town, if you so wish."
Not to mention it's always good, in his opinion, to learn about new people.
no subject
Rosie can't actually blame the other woman for her dramatic disposal of the not-actually-treasure-chests. She hadn't fallen victim to them herself, thankfully, but seen a handful of folks who had. It was always kind of comical, but- Seems this lady didn't find it as funny.
"I don't know where you're from, but they won't actually hurt anyone here. They're mostly just a stupid prank by the Fae." For as frustrating as they could be, the little guys didn't actually mean any harm. They'd humiliated her before and caused a headache or two but never hurt her by any means.
no subject
As the dhampir speaks, the glow in her eyes intensifies slightly before fading rapidly. With every word the emotion in her voice fades until she's left speaking in a disinterested monotone, with a sigh she shakes her head and sends a glance at the fleeing pixies. "I'm from Nidal, and more recently Mendev. Are you a local resident? I would appreciate some guidance as to where exactly I am."
no subject
"I'm not a local," she corrects, which might be up for debate. She has an inn here now in Town and has settled despite herself. Still, she wasn't born and raised here like actual locals. "I'm an offworlder like you, from the sound of it. But happy to help you out! If you've already visited Charlie and gotten your welcome, then I can give you an actual tour!"
no subject
With one last glance towards the fleeing pixies, she puts the matter aside and approaches Rosie, stepping to her side and offering her a more formal looking nod of her head. “Introductions. My name is Aurelia Sharr, Supreme Mage of the fifth crusade.”
no subject
"Aurelia," the blond echoes. "Pretty! My name's Rosie." She doesn't offer her hand or anything - this woman already doesn't seem like the type - but she does give a small bow of her head and smile. "Just tell me where you want to go and I'll be happy to get you there."
no subject
The descriptor of ‘pretty’ being applied to her does leave her confused for a moment, but she brushes it aside after a few blinks to attend to the task at hand. “An inn or tavern, some place where lodgings might be obtained. If I am to be stuck here for a time, I would like someplace to rest.”
Or more accurately, a place to lock and trap throughly to ensure she can’t be either disturbed or attacked without fatal consequences, but there’s no need to belabor the point.
no subject
"Well, then, you're in luck! Charlie offers houses for all the offworlders that show up. I guess that's why Town was built, kind of? So there's plenty to go around." Still, she knows some people don't trust the free house upon arrival offer so she has supplied the alternative. "I run an inn myself though if you'd rather stay there. Since you're new, it'll be at no charge until you can. I can also promise it's free of Fae tampering." If only because they don't want to lose access to the herbal teas she has on offer.
no subject
“I would not want to accept something for free, I am a wizard of considerable skill, if there is work I can provide you I will accept barter in trade.” Considerable skill is something of an understatement, archmage is more accurate, but she’s not one to brag without being prompted.
no subject
"Well, if you can do protection spells- That might be nice. We had an issue with Intellect Devourers not too long ago. I think they're all gone now? But just in case one tries to creep back in to my inn, I'd like to have some prevention in place for myself and the guests." Hopefully, that's sufficient enough to qualify a stay for an evening (or more, if necessary).
no subject
"I can handle that, but it will take some time. Three days of work for basic warding set ups. I'm unsure of the currency exchange here, if you'll accept barter though... I would accept your hospitality in exchange for the inn's defense".
She's leaving the idea open, but there's something slightly different about her attitude. Some quiet exhaustion that she's clearly forcing herself to endure. Perhaps her fights with the fae and mimics took more out of her than it looked.
no subject
Especially since Rosie does note that she looks a bit tired. Whether it be from the stress of all of this or just something back home, well- Does it matter? If this can at least relieve some of her worries, then that's good enough.
It isn't an especially large inn, at least. Two stories in total with a handful of rooms on the ground floor but the majority on the second. The main features were the kitchen and bar that offered seasonal, themed offerings. There were also live performances from traveling bards or Rosie herself that attracted more people in the evenings. Aurelia might get to see one in the time she works but also that Rosie tends to do just about a bit of everything. There is staff to help out during the day but the nights are just her who and whoever is staying.
Aurelia, too, is already hard-working at the wards but perhaps like recognizes like in that way. It's why she makes it a point to stop by wherever she is with some food. She hasn't seen her eat yet, so: "Do you want anything? Just got some fruit and easy things for now, but kitchen is still open."
no subject
A stark improvement over both, there’s an undeniable air of comfort and satisfaction to the place.
Aurelia’s nose twitches slightly as the food is brought by, but she continues to look at the pad of paper she’s drawing complex diagrams on, continuing to write out a series of equations until it reaches it’s end. Like recognizes like, and it’s only when Aurelia has ‘finished’ her current problem does she look up and meet Rosie’s eyes with her red gaze. Even for the brief second of contact, there’s a subtle weight, something inhuman to her eyes before she looks away.
Yet her body language does not read monstrous, rather simple nervousness. Pale fingers fiddle with a pencil, while her body shifts slightly left and right as though preparing to make her escape. She bites her lip, revealing the tip of a fang for a moment before she sighs and speaks up again. “No I … I do not wish to lie to you, so I will answer honestly. Unless you have fresh blood to offer, I will not be needing food for my stay.”
She refuses to look at Rosie again as she mutters softly, clearly expecting some form of negativity to fall on her as her body tenses up again… ready for a fight once more.
no subject
Even though the other woman doesn't meet her gaze initially, the blond doesn't take it any sort of way. She's more than familiar with needing to finish a thought or not wanting to lose progress on something before addressing someone else. When Aurelia does look up at her though, it's not what she expects to see. A flicker of something anxiously uncertain that makes Rosie wonder if she overstepped somehow before anything.
All that nervous energy though leads to that confession: she doesn't need to eat. "Oh," she answers, firstly. After only a brief beat though, she does have more to add. "That's not a problem, actually! I mean, actually, I probably should have prepared for that..." With all the different kind of offworlders that might appear, vampires or otherwise being among them should have been a consideration. She'll have to see what she can provide eventually.
But in the meantime: "Well, I meant what I said about having the best hospitality!" She sets that plate of food off to the side before brushing her hair back behind her shoulders. "If blood's all you need, I've got plenty." Which is emphasized by fingers tapping on her bare neckline.
