SO. We've mostly been here two and a half months now!

Enough time to establish some routines!! It's a small Town, chances are high everyone encounters most of everyone else on a routine basis at least in casual passing, so let's see it! This is for stuff that any casual observer might notice easily.

Popp takes everything about Elidibus right at face value! He likes to hit him up for magic tips and show off what he's managed to improve on. I reckon it's safe to assume that they're doing magic lessons off screen and Popp's seeing what he can do with applying Ascian magic theory to his own magic style.

What happens if you pour more of the concept of Astral into the way you cast an ice spell? Time to find out. (Probably snow, like they needed more of that)

Together they make magical theory be fun and also informative. I can see Elidibus asking Popp all about his world's magic and see them compare/contrast. Equivalent exchange! He's gonna remain weird intense old dude but is also super kind and I imagine that during their interactions he's gonna start bringing Popp stuff he likes. Trinkets? Treats? Yes.

It could be different kinds of snow. Like the amount of astral/umbral polarity makes it more powder or more thick and wet/packing. They immediately get into it because: what is the optimal polarity for snowballs.

Popp isn't particularly materialistic but his dragon instincts have been really into interestingly shaped bits of wood and particular kinds of stones (shiny, smooth, green, if it's two out of three he likes it) lately, so that's another way to his heart beyond feeding him and giving him knowledge and attention and praise. As far as weird intense old dude CR goes - Popp refuses to rank his opinions of the various weird old dudes who have taught him stuff actually, it would be unfaithful to Matoriv even if Elidibus is dozens of times nicer.

I think at least once Popp would have gotten so into pushing the limits of what he can do and testing out variants that he ran clean out of magic and energy and collapsed - this happens to him in canon a lot and while he's usually game to push through, he'd trust Elidibus enough to just straight up fall asleep. He is kind of childish when he's not in a position where other people are relying on him.

So if Avan is sensei and Matoriv is shishou, does this make Elidibus roushi? Gonna run out of teacher terms eventually, Popp.

Old Master works as a translation for Brokeena and Maam, but it won't work for Popp's specific hang-ups. And Sage is a specific class in both canons, so that's no good, either! Guru Elidibus would probably work, though?

He might get a bit misty-eyed because of how touched he is.

Elidibus casually taking care of Popp when he passes out and doing a really good job of it. He only really gets to let out his nurturing sides with a select few (and even fewer who don't push back on it) so he's going to grow fond of Popp so fast. In return for that trust he'll open up more about himself, his people, his world.

Very soon he's going to just adopt Popp without him knowing.
