Broken Palace by Jonathan Eng
0:07 / 1:13
▶︎
During 2014 Jonathan Eng composed the soundtrack for interactive narrative experience The Sailor’s Dream, consisting of a mix of instrumental tracks and a seven-part musical story told in folk song-form.

Like all who come through the summoning circle, your arrival is heralded by a dream. Waking up is a dizzying, disorienting thing... and possibly made worse by the fact that you aren't alone.

Right after you appear, so does someone else. If you're lucky*, they'll simply blink into existence by your side. If you're not, there's a chance they spawned below or above you. That's one way to make a memorable first impression. Best untangle yourselves and get things figured out.

If you're extremely unlucky*, instead of another person being brought through the summoning circle, it's a monster. The creature buzzes menacingly and immediately darts at any potential fresh blood it can.

Some welcome this is. If you aren't the fighting type, hopefully someone nearby is. Eventually, one of the local Town guards will slay the monster before it - and you - cause too much trouble or lose too much blood.

HAPPY "NAME DAY"!
ALT TEXT

While last year offworlders were still a bit too new to do much more than celebrate with fireworks and fanfare for the new year, this year there's certainly much more opportunity for revelry. Despite the hardships and uncertainty of the latter part of last year, people appear optimistic and ready to have a bit of fun.

Now that Town is a regular place on the map with more trade routes running through it, it means a lot more cultural diversity and exchange. Around this time of year especially, alcohol and luxury items will be a bit easier to acquire. It's the time for good will and new opportunity, after all, and so merchants are happy to share. For a reasonable cost, anyway!

People from all over the continent of Kamurkia have brought the ways that they ring in the new year. One of the most popular - and perhaps most relevant the Dragonbonded - is the tradition of a "Name Day." Since Town is a newer settlement, the people who have helped build it up deserve to be honored for generations to come. It is a way for offworlders and natives who have since settled here to leave their mark.

Around the outer edge of Town, a short brick wall is being erected. Each brick has a name written on it. Construction of it will stop once everyone's names who live in Town are written, but each new person that arrives will be encouraged to add their name, a brick, and grow the wall through the ages. Even should offworlders leave, their presence and importance will now be memorialized.

This is not mandatory but it is certainly encouraged! It's understandable that some Dragonbonded might feel conflicted, considering their circumstances, and be unsure about if they should contribute. Regardless of if someone's plan is to stay or not though, this is just a way to leave your name to be remembered someday.
Pie Week
ALT TEXT
Another tradition that seems to be gaining traction in Town, especially with its well-known bakery, is Pie Week. For the first week of the year, there is so. much. pie.

People bake it, eat it, throw it, and do all manner of things involving pie that one can think of to celebrate. Although this means the demand for pie is higher than usual, it also means new varieties are in circulation at feasts and pop-up festivities. Be careful to not get hit by a stray thrown pie! But if you do, hopefully it's one you like.

Should anyone attend one of these pie-centric celebrations, they can find the following pies (but are certainly not limited to just these):
Cranberry Pie - This pie is a seasonal favorite for its not-too-sweet taste and vibrant colors. Be careful though since slices will stain someone's lips tongue a vibrant red. But isn't that just kind of silly? After eating this pie, one might feel more giddy and playful than usual.

Shepherd's Pie - A classic savory pie that is a hit around the holidays. It's a good option for someone who prefers meat instead of sweets. It will tap into primal instincts of a Dragonbonded though. While open to interpretation what this means, they might find themselves more inclined to hunt prey instead of shop for it, be aggressive and territorial towards other Dragonbonded (this is your pie, okay!), and so on.

Pecan Pie - A deliciously sweet and sticky treat! Although, it might be a little... too sticky. For a short time after eating a slice of this pie, Dragonbonded will find themselves stuck to whoever they come in contact with next. It shouldn't last more than a few minutes, thankfully, but it might lead to some awkward situations. Sorry about that!

Chicken Pot Pie - Another meatier option, this one's effect is fairly simple. Dragonbonded will now be able to speak with animals for a brief time. Well, okay- One animal. Chickens. And you won't believe some of the things they have to say now that they can be heard.

As one might be able to imagine, The Fae got a little involved with some of the pie. You're free to come up with more options though and what funny effects they might have! The world is your pie.

Dance of Dragons
ALT TEXT
Although many worlds and cultures have a "dragon dance" in some iteration, not many are quite as literal as here in Kamurkia! Even when dragons seemingly left the land, people in large city-states kept their memory alive through the art of ritualistic dances that showcased the bond between dragon and man. Although uncertain about Dragonbonded last year and most of them still growing into their scales, this year... It's your time to shine!

Dragonbonded are dressed up in traditional, customary clothing and randomly paired up to perform a dance during the changeover from the old year to the new. Although not given any real instruction or time to prepare, they are reassured that's kind of the point! This dance is meant to be instinctual and a way to synchronize with your Dragon Soul in an authentic way... no matter how awkward it might seem.

You're also connecting to your partner's inner dragon as well!

Even if they are a newcomer to Town and being a Dragonbonded, they will feel a stirring of this soul that will temporarily cause them to shift into their full form. And you are both expected to! This dragon dance is, in fact, a dance to shift not only from the past year to the current one but from human shape to fully dragon and complete the dance.

While not required of all Dragonbonded, denizens of Town and from all over would be delighted to see dragons take shape once more. In this time especially, many people are looking for a bit of hope. No pressure though!

A Night(mare) To Remember
Alone upon the snow.

13:06

Like all newcomers who are called through the summoning circle, your arrival is heralded by a dream. Waking up is a dizzying, disorienting thing... or it would be, if you did. It seems instead that you are swept from one dream to the next.

For everyone else, some time during the night of October 1st is when everyone enters a collective sleep. Do you not sleep? You do now. You feel the exhaustion carry you into a dark, quiet place. No matter how you try to resist, your body will eventually give in no matter where you are. For a time, you rest.

Then, you begin to dream.

The air is bitingly cold around you. As you look around in the dark, the apathetic stars above at last light up some of the landscape before you. You are standing in knee-deep snow. Nothing appears to be in any direction except one, very large landmark.

In front of you rises a modest pyramid. It’s large, but not impossibly so. The stones are frosted. Upon a closer look, they are all cut from ice. Even the door, a crude affair, is encrusted with ice so thick you have to pound the pull a bit to be able to get a hand around it. With much effort, the door opens just enough for you to slip inside to escape the bitter winds.

It closes behind you, and now you are truly in the dark. Night vision or those with heightened senses will find it is no help against this unnatural darkness. You are meant to feel lost, alone, and scared.

Weather you choose to simply pick a direction or feel your way against a wall, the silence is deafening here. You can hear your own blood pumping in your ears (if you have it). Every slight creak of your movements seems like a cacophony.

Then, you see it.

A light.

A bright spotlight, white and sterile, shines down from an unseen source.

However, that is the least of your concern. What it illuminates... now that’s interesting!

It lights up what appears to be a massive statue of a large arctic cat of some kind laying on a plinth. No matter your size, it is much, much larger than you. The head of the great cat gives pause. Instead of a feline face, the the neck ends with a twisted, grotesque mask despite the smile that splits it. It looks like it could burst into laughter at any moment and that might be the worst possibility one could imagine.

Fortunately for you, it doesn't.

The Moon.

Unfortunately for you, it isn’t a statue after all. No, the alarming face turns suddenly to look at you.

It's neck extends much further than it should.

"Hello, weary traveler. Why don’t you stay a while, rest upon my hearth?" it entreats, the mask not at all moving as it speaks. "Tell me, what is your favorite game in the whole, wide world?"
PLAYING FOR KEEPS
The Sphinx
You've met the Sphinx. Lucky you.

If you do not simply attempt to flee the creature, it will give you a most intriguing proposition: Tonight, you are a guest in it's realm.

The Sphinx invites you to play a game. Any game, one of your choice, even one from your own world. No need to explain the rules... it already knows how to play.

If you win, it will grant you one of a few things.

    1) A wish. Its power transcends even that of Charlie's own. It can do things and give things that he cannot. If you choose this option, a mod will discuss with you how to bring it about (even if it's a little game-breaky). Just remember that these will have permanent in-game consequences, so wish carefully.

    2) It will answer any one question. One! No trying to fit in more by clever phrasing. It is the spirit of one question. If you try to skirt the rule, you may find the Sphinx... irritated.

    3) A future favor. You may call upon it's aid once, at any time, for anything. You have its word you will be granted as such. Upon which point you decide, it doesn't matter. It will answer the call. (However, if it is something big or game-changing, please contact the moderators for details and planning.)

The game will be played as a straight d20 roll against a mod, best 2 of three rolls.

If you lose the game...

Oh, dear.

The Sphinx makes it clear in the beginning what you are wagering. It's only fair, after all!

( █ cw for: violence, gore, permanent dismemberment, mental and physical manipulation ) It wants body parts. A limb, an eye, an ear, some fingers... you choose what you will wager. Whatever piece of you seems like its worth putting on the line is your decision to make. The Sphinx takes its due, but not cleanly. Not quickly.

When you lose, a table appears beside you. Immediately, you are compelled to lay down. Your body moves seemingly on its own. From the darkness, a mass appears. It has so many hands and head draped in rags. All you can see in the dim lighting is its many teeth smiling brightly at you. It introduces itself to you as the Trapper.

The Trapper

With introductions done, it begins its work. With cold, rusted tools, it removes the wagered part of you with no care. You are unable to move, unable to scream, but you feel every second of the hand-saw, the pliers, the scissors...

Then, after your horrific ordeal, you will wake.

Still missing that part of you. You should probably call someone before you bleed out.

If you decide to try and cheat...

Roll a d20. If you roll anything below an 18, the Sphinx sees you cheating and you immediately lose the game.

If you roll 18 or above- the Sphinx still sees you cheating, but you did such a good job of it that he is amused. You win.

If you decline the invitation to play...

Well, you're no fun.

The Sphinx is very annoyed. It wants entertainment and it will get it one way or another. You are still in its realm for the rest of the night. So, it drops you into a fun little maze to find your way out of.

The Labyrinth
The Labryinth

▶︎
၊၊|||||၊၊၊|။||||။၊|။
3:46

The Labyrinth is an ever-shifting maze of high walls. Flying over them is impossible as well breaking through or digging under. No matter how you try, it seems like there is an invisible barrier in all ways that keeps you there. It appears to be forcing you to have to find your way out the traditional method.

You are now in a collective dream with anyone else who chose to decline the Sphinx's game. You can find your friends in the Labyrinth... if that is what they chose. Good thing too! You’ll need all the help you can get to find your way out of this place. If you can find the way out.

The Labyrinth not only shifts and changes normally, but it also reflects the worlds and traumas of its inhabitants. Your worst fears come to life here and will pursue you relentlessly. Monsters or horrors from your own memory walk free. They even have the same powers, abilities and weaknesses as they would in your own world. Even the walls themselves can shift to reflect visions of home.

Or, perhaps, visions of someone else's home. You are not the only one that has to deal with your fears and nightmares. You might find yourself wandering into horrors that are unfamiliar to you, but painfully familiar to someone else. Be on your guard.

Extremely unlucky souls may even come across nightmares that... don't appear to have any sort of place. One of these is a strange goblin named Grundor. He calls you 'Master' and talks about eating floor almonds or soaking nutrients from one of your damp washcloths under the sink. You're not sure whose nightmare this is, but it's definitely someone's.
Some might wonder where their local deity is in all of this and why he isn't helping. Once Charlie realizes what's going on upon seeing all the offworlders in a deep sleep? Well...

There's unfortunately not too much he can do to help. The Sphinx is a being that is outside of the rules of this world. So is it's magic. Charlie can do little to break it, but he can offer something: Up in the sky above the labyrinth, you will eventually see a guiding star.

Follow it and you will find the exit to the waking world; however, this night can feel like it had lasted mere hours or several months. Regardless, it does inevitably end.

Any injuries sustained in the Labyrinth will go with you as a parting gift. Best to seek medical attention as soon as possible. You'll also probably need some counseling even if from an unexpected source.

It's going to be a long road to recovery for some, but rest assured you are safe now and will be taken care of.

Notes
⁂ If you lose a limb to the Sphinx, nothing will restore it. No amount of wishes from Charlie, this is magic he cannot even touch. It is gone. Please choose carefully if you wish to take this path and understand the consequences. Although characters will be given the option of fitted prosthetics from Raumm, this will be a permanent change to your character that cannot simply be healed away.

Sphinx rolls can be done here! As mentioned, it will be best two of three against a moderator's rolls. So, please provide your three rolls (and proof, if possible, via a picture or screenshot) and we will do the same.

⁂ Although perhaps the last person people might expect to counsel anyone, Hoshiko has experience with The Trapper and will share that with people who have also suffered a loss.

⁂ As always, feel free to leave feedback, comments, or suggestions here!

⁂ This TDM is open to all but please mark if you are a current or new player in your header. This way, people can easier differentiate and welcome potential newcomers!

SINK OR SWIM
ALT TEXT
Since several people in Town by now are fully-fledged dragons, Dimitri and Hoshiko have teamed up to provide some training drills for those wanting to hone their skills. Although meant for more veteran dragons, newcomers are also welcome to observe and learn what they might be able to do! They may even be paired up with a more established offworlder of the same dragon type as a mentor.

These drills will be around the new(er) formed lake thanks to a previous offworlder's efforts. It provides the perfect place to see what someone's breath weapon can do in different environments as well as help people cool off if they need to. Either way, don't expect your trainers to go easy on you. While not an exhaustive list, the training drills include...

Underwater Breath Attacks - No matter the situation, a dragon needs to be able to utilize their breath weapon accordingly. Sections of the lake have been sectioned off for different dragon types to practice this. See how poison or acid spreads, learn how to electrocute or freeze enemies, or even boil the water with a bit of concentrated fire. No aquatic animals will be harmed, but they can't guarantee you'll come out unscathed if you happen to fall in.

Marksmanship - As the resident ranged shooter expert, Hoshiko will be testing people's accuracy with their breath weapons. She'll have a variety of targets around the lake set up to hit the bullseye of if you can. The most difficult though will be the moving target that's strapped to herself. For a large dragon, she moves surprisingly fast and will duck in and out of the water as well to provide an appropriate challenge.

Conjuration Classes - Taking this opportunity, Ardyn Izunia ([personal profile] fatedfinality) is offering his services in his growing conjuration skills. Does he have permission? Who knows! Probably not! Does he care? Also no! Learn the first level spell/cantrip 'Find Familiar' and summon your own fun little daemon friend! They will not infect anyone, thankfully, but if summoned incorrectly they can harm the summoner or those nearby. All part of the training, he'll say, and let people handle it as they're meant to.

Staying Vigilant - While parts of the lake are sectioned off, this one is clear about not entering. A painted sign reads: "Beware of kelpies." It might be easy to presume this is also part of the training drills, but it actually isn't. Dimitri is trying to keep offworlders from being drowned. Thankfully, the kelpies aren't actually that much of a threat. Why, you ask? Well...

"Hey," says one, skirting the edge of the lake shore. "Hey, I need some help here. I'm stuck in the kelp and can't get out." This seems reasonable. It is covered in kelp and waterlogged. Besides, a talking horse surely isn't the strangest thing most people in Town have seen by now. Maybe you can assist just in case. "I promise I won't drown you," it adds, which is a bit suspicious but may still not be enough to deter someone entirely.

However, another snout and muzzle pokes up from the water nearby its friend. "Wait- We are going to drown them though for real, right? Like, I just want to be sure-"
"Shut up," the first kelpie hisses. "You always do this, man! This is why we never get to drown anyone!"
"Sorry. Sorry, it's just- You said we weren't, but I thought we were so I got confused. A-anyway, right! Hello. We are totally normal horses who will not drown you. Please, come closer."

If you refuse, the kelpies continue to bicker until they're effectively deterred and sink back down into the depths before (weakly) attempting to drown someone else again later.

Although this is supposed to be super serious training time, no one is stopping you from having a bit of fun too. The climbing structures are fun to jump off into the water. Those ropes dangling over the edge from thick tree branches make a great swing to catapult you far into the lake. Sometimes, some play is necessary even in the midst of 'work.'

THIS HEAT IS INTENTS
ALT TEXT

It's Raining Somewhere Else by Toby Fox
2:01 / 2:54
▶︎
Robert F. "Toby" Fox is an American video game developer and composer. He is best known for developing the role-playing video game Undertale.

During the day, the heat becomes almost intolerable at its peaks. While some dragonbonded were lucky to get an ice type, others may not be. Without more modern amenities, people of Town and Offworlders both are left to do what they can to combat the rising temperatures. It is recommended people open their windows at night to let the cool air in but then close it again as the sun starts to climb.

After a couple of days of sweltering suffering in the midst of a heatwave, Charlie offers camping equipment for people who may want to escape the warmth as best they can. People can camp by rivers or lakes to keep cool, fish for food, and set up bonfires at night. Slayd might be seen at your campsite, even, with a fun tune to keep spirits up.

Although not an exhaustive list, some of the things offworlders can do while camping are...

⁂ Chase or catch lightning bugs. They are in abundance during the early nighttime and can provide a bit of fun.
⁂ Cook over the campfire. S'Mores, meat, whatever! Just be careful of attracting predators if you do this. Dispose of all your food properly lest you invite raccoons, bears, or more to your campsite.
⁂ Foraging. Similarly, finding food out in nature is a fun activity. Although the Fae might try to trick you with dancing lights, they're easy enough to dissuade.
⁂ Stargazing. The constellations here are different, but it might be worth mapping them out or learning their stories.
( NSFW - Nudity ) Skinny Dipping. A classic camping activity once the sun sets is stripping off your clothes and going for a swim. The water is cool, no one can see, and it's kind of freeing!
⁂ ... and lots more! Have fun out there, offworlders, and try not to do too much damage.
While some may also worry about the previous giant mosquitos or other abnormally large bugs, the tents provided by Charlie have built-in protections against them! They are equipped with enhanced citronella oil that smells nice but keeps insects away. However, it also has an intense calming effect on those with sensitive noses... like dragons and dragonbonded! Even the most tense or uptight of individuals will feel relaxed and happy thanks to this scent.

The change in attitude is only temporary though and will diminish over time once someone is away from the tent for a few hours. Once they return to it though, the cycle will begin again and some may catch on to this pattern. But what's the harm, really? Enjoy the cool breeze, have a good sleep, and hopefully sweet dreams. You might even be more amicable to sharing your tent space thanks to your improved mood but that is up to you!
Rocky Talky
One of the things that was given to you in your welcome pack from Charlie was a summoning-stone. Although it looks like, well, an ordinary stone- It's actually magic! You can look through it and see someone else's face too if you're both viewing your stones at the same time. It can also record your speech and deliver that to someone else in a snap.

One of the other features is that you can scrawl on it. It will turn your writing into legible text that you can send others to read on their stones. Of course, you need to attune yourself to your stone first. To that end, it prompts you to set up a Rockstar Profile:

COMMENT CODE TEMPLATE
Notes
⁂ Hello and welcome to Children of Bahamut! If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback feel free to comment here!

⁂ We have a top-level directory for ease of finding new players to tag! After some feedback, we ask that only new players link their top-levels though current players are allowed to top-level and enjoy the TDM if they so wish as well!
(Example header: character name | canon | new/current player )
⁂ For the Arrival prompt, feel free to roll a d20 to see how lucky or unlucky you are.

⁂ Similarly, for the marksmanship prompt, players will need to roll a 15 or higher to successfully hit Hoshiko's moving target.

⁂ You can customize the the Rockstar Profile however you wish! So long as its readable, have fun. The profile image appears best when a 250 by 250 square image. Anything too tall might stretch it strangely or cause issues. If you need to edit or crop a picture to suit, we recommend using Pixlr as a free option for up to three images! We're not sponsored or anything, it's just neat and convenient.

GOLDEN GREENERY
ALT TEXT

Bloom by The Paper Kites
1:24 / 3:33
▶︎
The Paper Kites are an Australian indie rock/folk rock band from Melbourne. The band was formed in 2009 by lead vocalist/guitarist Sam Bentley and keyboardist/guitarist Christina Lacy. Their 2010 single "Bloom" has been certified Platinum in the United States.

Recently, Town was decorated by locals and Fae folk both. Things are a bit more colorful and the sun is shining more and more instead of the continuous winter gloom from before. The world finally feels like it's coming alive again.

Sorry about your possible allergies as trees blossom and spit excess pollen.

There also seems to be an emphasis on both green and gold. Crowns or other accessories of clovers are being made for luck. Whether or not they're actually lucky, who knows! Dragon-bonded are also being enlisted in helping with post-winter (and post Mind Flayer) repairs. Those creatures did quite a number skittering around some homes so why not lend a hand - clawed or otherwise - now that you're here? It'll help with offworlders reputation if nothing else!

Meanwhile, the Fae appear to have taken to the opposite of helping as they are wont to do. They are instead trying to trick locals and offworlders both with glittering chests of gold that most would know are too good to be true.

These are mimics who will attempt to devour someone that falls for the temptation of quick riches. Not to worry though, they're relatively harmless and all just for a good bit of fun. You might need some help though getting unstuck since they can be pretty persistent once their trap has been sprung.
CH-CH-CHANGES
ALT TEXT
There comes a time in every young dragon's life where they begin to experience some changes. That might be nothing new to those established in Town by now, of course, as the majority of their changes have come and gone. Nothing can surprise them anymore about their dragon-bonds.

...Or so they thought!

Whether established characters or ones just pulled through the summoning circle, springtime is a season that throws almost all dragons for a little bit of a loop. It is a common rutting season and those hormone fluctuations can strike when least expected.

Even if outside of your specific dragon's season or newly arrived, they'll be swept up by the rest being in so close proximity and likely be at least mildly affected as well. Some handle this season better than others, but there are still specific things to watch out for as more 'universal' experiences.

Heightened aggression - The ways that this can manifest varies wildly! Perhaps you're more easily irritated or frustrated. It's also possible that this presents as an increased competitive drive with someone else or just in general.

Brooding - While usually described as an instinctual behavior of sitting on eggs to incubate them, for most dragon-bonded this will instead appear as a compulsion to cuddle up with someone dear. You have the instinct to keep them safe, warm, and where better than right here with you?

Nesting - That stick is really neat. It'd look great in your home, wouldn't it? Dragon-bonded will feel the desire to create a safe and comfortable environment for themselves and friends. This often involves cleaning, organizing, and preparing a space. For what? Maybe your character doesn't know, but will feel the urge to do it anyway!

Increased Libido (The NSFW Option) - For those of age, there will be a distinct increase in sexual desire that can be noted as well. While not everyone will experience it, it is something that can be present as an undercurrent either on its own or coupled with other instincts. (For example, the compulsion to cuddle isn't just that or nesting will be a result of attempting to breed.)

PLAYTIME
ALT TEXT
To help dragon-bonded with their seasonal and instinctual urges, Charlie and others have put together some games. They understand this might be a bit overwhelming and strange to those unfamiliar. So, why not make it as fun and enjoyable as they can?

Horn Locking - All dragon-bonded will find that due to the season 1) if they have horns then they aren't going away no matter their attempts to shift and 2) they're extremely itchy. Even the newest among them will have small stubs of horns pre-maturely! To help combat this and channel some unexpected aggression, dragon-bonded are encouraged to lock horns with one another. It hopefully scratches both the literal and metaphorical itches they're dealing with.

Scavenger Hunt(s) - To help with the nesting urges, a list of miscellaneous items has been given to dragon-bonded to search for. The reward for completing this list* is five (5) bond points. Charlie trusts that you'll find what has been asked for... but doesn't need to see it. Yes, that is a nice rock. It can stay in your home though, really.

Baseball - Even if called something else here, people will realize quickly enough: this is just baseball. Dragon-bonded will be encouraged though to hit the ball with one of their draconic extremities rather than a bat. They can use their tail, their hands, or even their horns to whack a small ball as far as possible. This game is set-up to help release some of that pent-up energy as well as indulge in that competitive instinct.

⁂ Hello and happy Spring! Welcome to Children of Bahamut's third drive meme! If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback then feel free to ask here.

⁂ We have a top-level directory drive for ease of finding new players to tag! After some feedback, we ask that only new players link their top-levels though current players are allowed to top-level and enjoy the TDM if they so wish as well!
(Example header: character name | canon )

⁂ The list provided by Charlie will have approximately ten (10) miscellaneous items on it to find and collect. You can decide what they are and we're operating on the honor system here of your characters going out and finding everything if you so wish. (Just let us know when you turn in your bonds that's what your character did and provide a link if possible, but know that one isn't necessary!)

Quest Board Plotting

Since quests all tend to require party members (a minimum of two), it can be difficult to get them going if you aren't sure who's interested. This plotting post helps to alleviate that, by listing the current available quests. Remember to take a look at the Quest Board to see how it all works, and go to the FAQ if you have any question for the mods! If there's a quest you're interested in but you're lacking at least one more person.

Sub-threads are posted below for Open Quests, and then the separate Exclusive Quests. Make sure to check the latter's status on the Quest Board to see if it's still open!

SEASONS GREETINGS
ALT TEXT

On the morning of the first of the year, a notification message pops up on everyone’s Rocky-Talkies no matter if they just arrived or are longer-established offworlders. Small minor-illusion fireworks accompany the ping which features Charlie smiling and waving. Alongside him are both Slayd and Dimitri (where Dimitri is not smiling, but what can you expect?)

Without further ado, Charlie begins to speak: "Happy Winter Solstice and beginning of a new year! We have some fantastic news for you! The town of Hast has opened its arms to us in welcome thanks to your good work in the area. Not only that, but we have some very special visitors in their harbor. You will get to meet one of the legendary heroes that saved this world! Hoshiko!"

At her mention, an image of a... wanted poster mugshot pops up with a brunette woman holding up two fingers and sticking her tongue out. "Wait, no, sorry- Not that one!" Charlie corrects, the profile changing to a more recent photograph of the woman. Here, her hair is longer and she holds herself a bit more maturely.

"She'll be accompanied by a group of friendly kobolds who assisted in that journey as well. Hoshiko will be putting on a lovely firework display for everyone as a New Year’s celebration. The kobolds, meanwhile, are avid traders. They travel all around the seas to the north and have collected plenty of interesting items to trade. They have sent word that they are interested in any scrap metal you can find! Thankfully, the beaches near Hast are plentiful in scrap metal to collect from previous mining ventures there. You will also be doing the people of Hast a favor by cleaning up their beaches.

That said, please take care and wear gloves if you plan to collect the scrap! I will make sure there are plenty available in our shop for the taking. I have also restocked it with more warm winter clothes!" Though they are basic, it might be nice to accessorize a little. "Be on your best behavior to our hosts in Hast if you plan to visit, and please go with our warmest wishes besides! Hoshiko will make sure you're safe!"

The next part is said lower since Charlie seems to think the recording has ended before it actually did: "She promised she would, at least."
Hast To Be
ALT TEXT
The town of Hast is a cascade of buildings that trace down the large Bail Mountain and spill out into the harbor below. Hast is a busy and active mining town. Several mine entrances can be seen dotting the mountainside. Here, they mine for precious metals and useful minerals that are used throughout the continent for a multitude of purposes.

You are welcome to explore the mines at your own risk! You are warned that outside of the normal risks of being in a mine, there are some monsters that inhabit the older mines that are no longer in use. The town is not liable for anything that happens to someone foolish enough to enter unprepared.

The people here are friendly, albeit seemingly always on the move. They appear too busy to even really worry about newcomers. There are plenty of small shops where you can find raw minerals and metals for sale as well as products that are refined from such materials. Tools, more sturdy weapons, and useful gear are some things that may catch your eye here!

Charlie has afforded everyone 10 gold pieces to spend here. We will leave what you buy and how much it costs up to the player, on the honor system that you don’t go hog-wild. Generally, one gold piece = 100 modern-day American dollars for reference. (Please don’t over-worry about what-costs what, we trust you to use your best judgement!)

Aside from material goods, you can also enjoy one of the few pubs or eateries that exist around the town.
⁂ "The Rusty Nail" is a pub that serves primarily the local miners. Meanwhile, "The Bitten Coin" is the tavern that also serves as one of the local inns. If you’re looking for fancier fare go somewhere else you can find some slightly more stately restaurants toward the harbor.
⁂ "The Tossed Dagger" serves some delicious local fish dishes, and "Gordo’s Big Biscuits" is somewhat self-explanatory.
⁂ Most of the entertainment here is bar-fights and somewhat crude performances given the local’s preferences, but you can certainly find comfort at the inn if you’re not looking to mix with rowdy miners and fishermen.

Enjoy your time!

Rusty Bucket Bay by Grant Kirkhope
1:07 / 3:P57
▶︎
Grant Kirkhope is a Scottish composer and voice actor for video games and film. Some of his notable works include GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Perfect Dark, among many others.

The kobolds mentioned are plentifully packed in a barely-seaworthy hunk of metal ship that serves as their maritime clown-car. It is being tugged along by a far more... ship-looking ship. These creatures are hyperactive, will yip your ears off about nothing, and are all too excited to receive any metal or 'shiny bits' and will parade around with it like little peacocks proudly. That said, they are friendly (even if somewhat annoying or tiring for lengths of time).

If asked, they will happily tell you that the scrap is not only to repair their ship but also to build an effigy to their god: the "Arsenal Dragon." When pressed on this, they will say their god is indeed a very real person. He was another one of the great heroes that saved the land! He had ascended to divinity at the end of his journey and is currently helping to rebuild the otherwise desolate north. They will then proceed to gush about how cool and amazing and strong and great he is.

Did they mention great? And strong? And cool? Oh, and amazing!

There are two kobolds running an official trade-in booth hastily constructed on the beach. They have (barely legible) nametags.

"Mung", reads the tag in front of a red and cream kobold with gold horns. "Liberius", meanwhile, is a squat, white creature with thick glasses that looks like he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown at all times.

You can trade scrap metal and they will give you a random magical-or-interesting item of equal value. While can gather as much scrap as you wish, but please keep it to one trade-in per character. Everyone that helps out can report so to Mung and Liberius here and receive - in addition to their item - a bit of reputation as well as five (5) bond points to use for activity rewards.
LIGHT 'EM UP
ALT TEXT

Once the sun begins to set, offworlders are encouraged to head down to the harbor for a fireworks show on the water as promised. They are gifted sparklers of whatever color they choose and given the option to buy larger fireworks of their own if so desired. It can be noted that any purchased with the gold provided by Charlie have a unique logo branding on them that is separate from the town of Hast. This is a personal investment, it seems, versus helping the town proper.

If questioned, the proprietor herself - Hoshiko - will make an appearance. She wears a long, furred cloak that covers most of her body from view and shields her from the cold. "Look, a lady has to make money in this world somehow," is all she’ll say with a cheeky sort of smile. However, anyone that comes across her is free to make a perception check to notice that they have less gold than before.

If successful (a roll of 12 or higher), Hoshiko will congratulate them on their quick catch and return the gold then. If unsuccessful, they’ll find (most of) the gold returned and a note at the end of the night that simply reads: "Thanks! Here’s your change."

Other than the brief encounter, the captain seems mostly preoccupied with making a magnificent display of pyrotechnics. They launch from her ship and dance across the sky for quite some time before a large finale. Any stray sparks or potential fire hazards are to be expected, whether from her own show or careless handling of other fireworks, but thankfully they have a plan for that too.

A large, white dragon will put out any fires with a powerful blast of frost breath. Sorry if you get caught in the chill! It doesn't seem too concerned with that so much as stamping out any flames before they can spread. "Find someone to warm you up!" it will laugh (in a perhaps familiar voice) before moving on.

NO FUN GRAPHIC BECAUSE I CAN'T MAKE THEM

SO. We've mostly been here two and a half months now!

Enough time to establish some routines!! It's a small Town, chances are high everyone encounters most of everyone else on a routine basis at least in casual passing, so let's see it! This is for stuff that any casual observer might notice easily.

Or, you know.
Stalkers.

Who is it?:
What's their daily public routine like?:
What would a casual observer know of their habits and personality?:
How are they publicly handling their changes?:
(Feel free to detail what those changes are right now and how obvious they are)
Anything else you'd like easily known?:

Bonus round: If they are hunting, gathering, making woodpiles etc, is any of this for others or town NPCs? (Use it as a rp hook!!)

While the souls of many dragons are now stuck inside a bunch of weirdos from other worlds, they did at one point have their own lives! Lives which may have intersected in a variety of ways.

So this is a meme dedicated for that purpose! In the comments down below, feel free to put down your dragon's name, the information blurb you were given at app, and any other details you would like to search out! It doesn't have to be anything fancy, I say, mainly because I'm bad at HTML, but the basics could be considered such:

Name:
Appearance:
Blurb:
CR Interests: (aka what you might be looking for in particular, any hooks for your dragon, etc)

And that's it!

Arrival
ALT TEXT

Broken Palace by Jonathan Eng
0:07 / 1:13
▶︎
During 2014 Jonathan Eng composed the soundtrack for interactive narrative experience The Sailor’s Dream, consisting of a mix of instrumental tracks and a seven-part musical story told in folk song-form.

Like all who come through summoning circle, your arrival is heralded by a dream.

The creature bobs, laughs maniacally, and immediately begins to spit flames your way.

Some welcome this is. If you aren't the fighting type, hopefully someone nearby is. Eventually, one of the local Town guards will slay the monster before it - and you - cause too much trouble or fire damage.

Town Tricks
ALT TEXT
After your unexpected introduction to either your fellow offworlder or monster, you'll be given a proper one from Charlie in Town. He sends you on your way shortly after to get settled in properly and deal with then next offworlder that walks in. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a revolving door right now so he doesn't have time for a more in-depth explanation or to answer too many questions.

Nor does he remember to warn you about The Fae.

Although native to Talahee Forest, which is currently off-limits to offworlders, the surge of magic from the summoning circle has piqued their interest. While the faefolk vary wildly in appearance, the ones scouting are pixies.

These tiny tricksters may be too shy to reveal themselves outright... but that won't stop them from playing pranks on all these fun, new victims. Some examples of what can happen are:

⁂ Your shoestrings are suddenly tied together and make you trip.
⁂ An object you had on your person goes missing... only to be found in an odd place. Repeatedly.
⁂ Create illusions of food and drink that disappear or turn into something else as soon as you try to consume it.
At night, they'll use dancing lights to lead people astray and turn them around Town.

Thankfully, these Fae mean you no harm. In fact, if you react with hostility they will give you a wide berth and simply find someone more fun to play with.

    Age:
    Race:
    Favorite soup? Why?:
Is soup something you eat or drink?

The last couple of questions might seem... strange but, surely, it must have a reason for asking. Once you answer the questions and unlock your device, you might pocket it and forget. Unfortunately, your scrawled answers were sent to the entire summoning-stone network throughout Town. Everyone can see what you put and they might even have some thoughts about it.

⁂ Hello and welcome to Children of Bahamut! If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback feel free to comment here!

⁂ For the Arrival prompt, feel free to roll a d20 to see how lucky or unlucky you are.

⁂ The Town Tricks example list for pranks isn't exhaustive. If you have other silly prank ideas in mind, feel free to roll with that and have fun with it! The Fae certainly are.

⁂ There is a correct choice of favorite soup and the moderators will remember your choice/opinions. (We're joking. Mostly.)
